European beach culture: chaise-longue, umbrella, drinks, waiters and dance music; a big public place with private spots. Our gaze seems to have caught this girl by surprise in her private space under the umbrella. She wasn't going to say anything though!

Having apartments facing each other, the balcony is both a private and a public space. On the balcony, she is enclosed by the laundry and the railings. From a distance, it looks a bit like a jail but then it is perhaps her refuge and a place of freedom. The bed sheet represents her silence while she is dreaming away.
